Aogaah Foundation Cambodia
Jul 19th, 2011 | By Admin | Category: Current Topics of InterestOne of the reasons why I went to Cambodia this year was to visit the Aogaah Foundation. The purpose of this nonprofit organization is to provide free education to improvised kids. The school was founded by a retired Maricopa Community College District math professor and, as an educator, I wanted to make a difference in these kids lives. My friend Donna, a math professor within my district, and I began asking for donation to bring to the school or financial support. The schools yearly operating budget (http://www.aogaah.org/page02b.html) is only $10,000 but you’d be surprised how hard it is to raise even that small amount. When I put out the call for donations I was overwhelmed by the responses from my friends and colleagues. I can’t thank you all enough for your support. Here are pictures of the school and the kids. Your support is making a difference and it’s not too late to give. Go to the website and click on donations: http://www.aogaah.org/. What you do does make a difference!
Another Reason To Give!
My good friend Donna (pictured above) is doing an amazing swim event to raise money for the school. If you are an athlete or just love supporting a challenge please check out the video below. I made this video to support her endeavor. The event is called 5 for 5 – 5 mile swim to raise 5K for Cambodian schoolchildren.
It’s All About the Children!
What I really want you to take away from this post is that it’s all about the kids. I have traveled around the world and can honestly say Cambodia is one of the poorest countries I’ve ever visited. Yes, despite the poverty, the people are amazing. These picture are what this organization is all about.
