It is Day 8 of my pilgrimage and I am going from Santo Domingo de Calzada to Belorado. It’s approximately 23 km.

What I have found surprising is that the distance I think I can cover in a given amount of time is completely off. Usually when I go hiking back home I average 5km (3 miles) per hour.

On the Camino I seem to be averaging about 3 km per hour. I wonder if it’s just because I’m not use to the weight of my bag, the terrain I am covering, or am I just getting tired and dragging myself along in the end.

Todays terrain was relatively flat. A few rolling hills. My feet are doing ok. Not a single blister. I’ve seen some really bad feet of other pilgrims and I am amazed they are still walking.

It’s nice to not be alone. Sarah and Abby have added a different dimension to the day. They are fun.

  1. BTW – We finally watched ‘The Way’ over the weekend – great movie!! Kept thinking about how you were on your journey, too! :)
